2019 Canadian Journey ~ Road Trip Extreme fun!

Ed and I took a month long journey to see the Canadian Rockies.  Part of the journey was to meet the Trilogy Hiking Club members in Banff and for Ed to hike with them.

It was a remarkable journey in many ways.  We drove our 2018 Jeep nearly 5000 miles, in two countries and 5 western states.  It was a lot of time in the car together, for sure.

We learned to use Apple CarPlay a little better.   I subscribed to Audible and we listened to two Audiobooks.  One John Grisham book titled "Playing for Pizza" about pizza and Italy and football.  Figured Ed might like it.
The other book, not so light, was titled "Educated" and was a long difficult listen.  Not so entertaining, definitely not light.

We learned the car navigation system lacked something.  It took of off a nice 4 lane road onto the frontage road for 10 miles at one point, just to lead us back to the same 4 lane.  Inexplicably.    Once to a clear dead end in a field, no sign of the road it was indicating.  So we learned to use CarPlay and our phones for more reliable navigation.

I drove only once, while Ed was hiking with the club.  I took the Jeep to Tunnel Mountain near Banff to find a laundromat.  It was fine.  Roads were great, traffic little, and people helpful and friendly.  Got the laundry done.

My favorite part of the whole trip was Grand Teton National Park.  We stayed 4 nights at Jackson Lake Lodge.  Every evening we sat on the deck of our room and watched the sun go down, the moon come out, and finally the stars show themselves.  We could see the Milky Way so clearly!!  I love that.
