Spring - come on!

Not much of real interest has been going on here. It actually snowed just a little bit on Sunday AM, but was soon gone. It is pretty cold today, in the high 40's.

Thursday evening we went to the Arena Stage and saw the play "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolfe?" This was a lot of fun, great acting and nice theatre. It was sad to remember Elizabeth Taylor, who is famously played the wife in the film version. Elizabeth Taylor died last week at the age of 79. It was a very interesting portrayal of married life. Actually, I don't think those two hated each other, so much as just needed some counseling.

We had dinner in the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel, which I had trouble finding from the Metro, but finally was able to meet Ed there. I got so confused about which of the 4 exits to take out of the Metro. Even with my iPhone GPS, I became nearly hopelessly lost. It is a pretty large Metro station, so walking around the entire perimeter was kind of too far! I finally went back inside the Metro, selected another exit and tried again. This time it was the right exit!

Last week was a big conference for me, the annual Computers In Libraries 2011 conference. That was a lot of fun, it was Monday through Thursday at DuPont Circle. I took Metro into DuPont everyday and walked up Connecticut Avenue to the Hilton. This is the Hilton where John Hinckley shot Reagan 30 years ago.
There is a great deal of focus on social media this year. There was a lot of conference blogging and tweeting. Yes, I tweet and read the tweets about the conference (#CIL2011)

I have ordered an iPad2, so it should be here in a couple of weeks. I am excited to try this new (for me) stuff. I will let you know what I discover.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all my Family!

May the road rise up to meet you,

may the wind be ever at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields.

And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand

Think today of those long ago Snodgrass boys - coming to America from Ireland in the 1850 when the potato crop failed. What a hearty bunch they were!

Thinking of all of you today! Have a great day.

Laissez les Bon Temps Roulez

You know it must be Fat Tuesday when your Fiesta is full of pretty party beads! (Photo borrowed from the FB page of D. Schaefer.)

What a nice celebration!
