Dr. Pollack called to let me know that the biopsy results are in. They removed 4 polyps. One was a tubular adenoma. But, it is all removed and I can come back in 3-5 years.
I'll opt for 3 years.

Frustration in Maryland. (OK, this is a rant. )
This was an interesting weekend.
My sister decided to bring Mom "home" from the hospital, instead of returning her to the long term care and rehab facility. So....
I found out Thurs. night prior to our trip home on Friday. I'm thankful we called her and pressed her for information, as she was not going to tell me. I guess she knew I would not approve of this poorly thought out decision.
They managed to get a hospital bed into Mom's living room. The also managed to get a new oxygen machine delivered, they had just had the old one removed a few days prior. They got a suction machine, for when she aspirates food etc. They have hired 24 hour people to come in an help care for Mom. There is a lot to do, from laundry, cleaning, cooking, puree the food, feed Mom, change diapers on her, try to wrestle her into and out of the chair/bed. Bath her, cream her, check for sores....it is an endless list. My sister is quite the martyr, with her husband there as well. Her poor husband is quite ill with Parkinson's himself, and certainly needs quite a bit of care and attention.
My sister is not listening to anything I say. I mean, not anything!!!! She doesn't hear me at all.
It is scary, frightening for Mom, frustrating - not to mention how upset and heartbroken I am over losing Mom this way. Now I won't have my sister when this is over. I've never seen anyone push me away the way she is doing. What a nut.
She has that house so messed up I don't even want to be there. She is hoarding...she wants me to spend hours going through things, only to place them right back where they were to begin with.
She has systematically pushed me completely out of my own home there, from taking over my single little shelf for my toiletries to removing my photos. Of course I am offended! She even asked us not to stay there, that her kids like the bed Dad had purchased for Ed & I to have a good place to sleep. Gheeze. I'm at wits end.
She is doing crazy and illogical things, such as: Ed & I called her before we drove over to visit with Mom. "Do you need anything?" Yes, she said and proceeded to cite her entire shopping list.
Do you really want me to get all this ?
Yes.
OK - Ed & I went to WalMart and got the stuff.
Then she went to Krogers and BOUGHT THE VERY SAME STUFF(!!!). She took our stuff too, of course. We probably spent about $75-80 this time, and about an hour and a half. Waste our time (which is so limited here), effort, and funds? Disrespect? What the heck is this about? Is this a control issue? Power? Anger? (She has done this to me several times in the last couple of years. For the most part, I haven't comment to her on this.)
I'm just waaaaaaaay upset.
Mom is just treading water I think. I hope she is not in too much pain, she is pretty confused most of the time.

My first Colonoscopy
Last week I had the duty of enduring my very first colonoscopy. Thursday was the "prep" day, where you take all the laxatives and wait for the inevitable bathroom trots. Friday was the big day. We did this as an outpatient procedure. They had trouble finding a vein (again). I was "put to sleep" so I don't remember anything of the procedure.
They removed 4 polyps and diagnosed diverticulosis.
Guess I'm not quite as healthy as I had imagined.
All in all, not a distressing procedure. The worst part was then the anesthesiologist looked down at me on the bed and said "Well, you're a big girl, what else do I need to know about you?"
I hate being so large, wish I were invisible. I just wanted to vanish.
Well, its over.

April and the Cherry Blossoms
Washington DC is famous for the springtime cherry blossoms. They are beautiful this year, but I haven't been able to go to the Tidal Basin yet and enjoy them in person. Hopefully, soon.
We've place Mom in a long term care facility. It is heartbreaking, she is so hurt from the stroke. Still has problems swallowing, cannot walk, cannot stand up, left arm no longer functions at all, no use of that hand. There are some good and caring people at the facility, I'm thankful for that. My sis is nearby, if she can stand to go to the "Hotel", as she euphemistically refers to it. I'm so sad about this. Just torn up.
Ed is in New Orleans today, he is so busy with his job. We have a new person in the office, she seems nice. I hope she likes it here in the DC area. It is just so urban, so noisy and busy. Everyone is too busy, so rushed and urgent all the time. Too busy.
I'm feeling quite alone.
