Live in the Moment - Things that Brought Joy Today

Thanks Trisha and John for this wonderful addition to my living room and computer area. Gives me a lift every time I walk into the room!

Thanks to Target.com for delivering new cushions for my old porch chairs. I've had the chairs since 1976 at Maple Lake. Just needed bright cushy new cushions. Really nice, and I didn't even have to drag them home behind the Chrysler. 8-)

At Brookside Gardens during my walk, I saw a Hibiscus today, it said Waimea on the tag. Can't believe just a week ago I was there.

Urban Views

I like being a Wahine!

Even the bathrooms had orchids!

Pool at the Halekulani Hotel, loveliest pool I've seen.

Ed in Waikiki

Can you see Diamond Head right past Ed's left shoulder in the distance. It was beautiful!

This was their dessert special, the Baked Hawaii - pineapple upside down cake. It was awesome and that was the cutest plate it was on.

This is Makapu'u Lighthouse, the largest Fresnel lens in existence. Not open to the public, but we're getting a great view of that beautiful lens.

Our hike to Makapu'u Lighthouse.

The views were truly awesome.

This is the Hale'iwa Beach Park on the North Shore.

So, Barbara, What was that hotel like?

The Big Meeting on May 15

So, while the beaches and sunshine of Waikiki awaited, Here I am actually at work.

It was just over 10 hours of flying time, then up early to work the meeting. We had about 60 attendees this year.

Working in Waikiki

Barbara Nicholson, Angela Ruffin and Lisa Boyd at a Luau in the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki. We're looking relieved, this is after the meeting we had. Ed took the photo.
Here you can see our registration desk in the Hawaii Convention Center. It is a beautiful building, very large. Great architecture.

Joey had a poster accepted. Here we are, the proud parents with Joey and his iNeeds Poster, about the information needs of grad students in the MPH program.

Eating pork won't kill you, at least not with Swine Flu

Hey! It Monday again, and my weigh in day. Those of you who spent any time with me this weekend know the challenges it held! Celebrating Mom's 87th Birthday, a bit of time with Ed, great food, good friends, its all good! (But can be a food nightmare!)

I'll cut right to the chase, I walked into WW with some trepidation today, but guess what?
I actually lost -2 lbs. Amazing! I had been watching really carefully while I was alone most of the week. After Ed got here Wednesday night, things weren't so easily controlled. I guess the early part of the week paid off.

I had such a wonderful Mother's Day weekend, it was great to have Ed home and get to see Mom. Zoey is a real charmer and that added yet another highlight to our weekend. Ed and I had dinner together in the Washington DC airport prior to his flight, and we'll meet on Thurs. for lunch at SFO. It will be a fun, but challenging couple of weeks for me.

Happy May Day 2009

Hope your May is looking good!

Here in Bethesda, its rainy today and much stir going on about the Swine Flu, aka H1N1 virus.
The first school is closed today in Montgomery County. (Rockville High)

Ed is flying back to CA on Saturday, as he had originally planned. He has a meeting on Monday there that he needs to attend. The plan still is for him to fly to DC on Wed. We feel fine, but of course everyone is quite concerned.
