Culture plays a huge role in Montana, more than I had previously realized. The Blackfeet tribe was inhabiting the land long before the national park was ever imagined. This was the place they hunted, lived, raised families. I can only imagine what a wonderful life it must have been.

I was fortunate to get to see the
Lodgepole Gallery and Tipi Village, although I did not get to stay there in a tipi. Darrell Norman, Ee-Nees-Too-Wah-See, a Blackfeet tribal member, noted artist and historian, shared some of his personal insights with us over a very nice box lunch.
The Native American art gallery there was really nice, I would have enjoyed purchasing some of the pieces we saw, but I'm too old to begin collecting more stuff. I feel privileged to just enjoy it "in the moment".
