Sharing a neat writer with you

I often love reading the things other folks write, especially about hiking adventures.  I've got a really great one here - although it is from a year or so ago, she in a nice writer and a good sport.  I think you'll enjoy it.
Be sure you read her experience going the the airport with the TSA folks after hiking in Idaho. Great laugh. This is a very very spirited older lady.  Yay for her!

I'm leaving in about an hour to join Ed on the train to New York City!  Yay!
I really need the break, it has been difficult here at work for a couple of weeks, and I'm pretty stressed out.  So, its a beautiful day, and I'll look out the window of the Acela for about 3 hours as the scenery rolls by.

Gotta run for the Metro to get to the train station.  Gonna be "in the moment" with dinner tonight and Joey.

Sometimes I wish we all lived in the same place, but then where would I go for a lift?   Amanda - we'll be thinking of you and the 70 days.  Love!

February is off to a good start.

We've certainly been lucky this winter - we've had very little snow and very mild temperatures.  Personally, there are moments that I miss a bit of snow.  But, I know that we're way better off without a blizzard to contend with.

Maybe tomorrow we'll be able to go to the Washington Auto Show, I'd enjoy seeing the new cars.  Hopefully, Metro will work tomorrow.  One never knows.

A couple of days this week, all the 3 long escalators were out of order at my station, Medical Center.  Makes it really difficult to get from the train to the street level.  My choices are:
  • Walk up the long escalator  (walking down is hard too, its very long and steep.)
  • Overcrowded and long elevator ride.  Scary, elevator breaks down occasionally.
  • Ride to next Metro stop - look for a shuttle or walk 20 minutes back to work
I could drive my car, but then I have to get a daily parking permit from NIH which takes about a half hour each day to get the permit.  Its another hassle of its own.

Metro isn't improving, it is getting worse.  Its dirty, gritty and a miserable way for people to move around.  Its my biggest pet peeve.  Water dripping from the ceilings, slick floors, overcrowding at rush hours.  In a nutshell, I do hate it.   But, I also hate the traffic here.  Bummer.

Today was another Dr. appt, it went well but I agree with those who went before me, "Getting old isn't for wimps."

I go to another Dr. this afternoon, my podiatrist.  Hopefully, he will be able to make my poor feet feel better.  Ed's in class today, but may be able to get home early.

Enough of my pitty pot stuff.  Its a little cold here, but beautifully sunny.  I'm not trapped in my dungeon (aka office) so its all good!
